St Pat's into grand final

ST PATRICK'S College has won the opportunity to play off for its third consecutive Herald Sun Shield, at the MCG on Sunday, August 19.

St Pat's advanced to its fourth consecutive grand final with a 43-point over Sunbury's Salesian College in a semi-final at Craigieburn this afternoon, 8.12 (60) to 2.5 (17).

The Ballarat school set up the victory with three goals against a howling gale in the second quarter, to establish a six goal lead.

Midfielder Matt Crouch was best on ground and finished with two goals, with Nick Rippon and Tom Smith also among St Pat's better players. Jake Neade also kicked two goals.

St Patrick's will face St Bernard's College Essendon in the grand final, in the curtain raiser to the Hawthorn versus Gold Coast twilight match, after St Bernard's defeated Essendon Keilor College by 87 points in yesterday's earlier match at Highgate Arena.
