Vandals hurled a brick through the window of a home in Melbourne's north this morning before setting the building ablaze, police say.
A woman in her 50s was lucky to escape the fire in Kitchener Street in Broadmeadows just before 3am.
A Victoria Police spokesman said neighbours reported seeing two men in the street shortly before the window was shattered. The men are believed to have driven to the location.
They threw a brick through the front window of the home before dousing the front of the house in a flammable liquid and setting it alight.
The woman was the only person at home at the time of the attack and she was not injured. There was minor damage to the house.
Police are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information about the fire to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or visit www.crimestoppers.com.au.
