FORMER Ballarat Rush coach Donna Rinaldi is back at the reins of fellow South East Australian Basketball League team Brisbane Lady Spartans.
This is Rinaldi’s second stint with Brisbane.
Originally from Ballarat, Rinaldi played with the Lady Spartans for close to a decade and stepped up as coach in 2007.
She took them to their first SEABL title in 2009.
Rinaldi returned to Ballarat as Rush head coach in 2011 after the retirement of longstanding mentor Kym Cassells.
Rinaldi embarked on her third season as Rush coach this year but was sensationally sacked after a handful of games and replaced by Peter Cunningham.
Rinaldi said today in a statement released by the Spartans that coaching was a passion.
“When the opportunity came up I wanted to go for it,” she said.
"I've started to put a team together now and build on what last year's team had.
“Obviously they have some great young talent coming through, but along with Holly Smith and Karli Currie we need some more experience.
“I hope to make us competitive every game and try and take the team back to some success on the court," Rinaldi said.
