LUCAS and Buninyong laid down the law with the bat in Ballarat Cricket Association district division on Saturday.
Lucas smacked 325 against VRI Delacombe at Victoria Park, while top team Buninyong finished with 8-250 against Dunnstown at Buninyong.
Lucas got away late in the day.
Opener Brad Allan stood above the rest of the top order with 83. He kept the innings together as wickets fell steadily at the other end.
Allan shared a half-century stand with Jake Pring, 23, and Nick Young made another contribution of 21.
However, with Allan gone and Lucas 7-180, VRI Delacombe had the match on an even keel.
This was until Dale Jeffrey, 74, arrived, who with Paul Jones, 41, put on 96 for the eight wicket to set up a 300-plus total.
After doing most of the damage at the top of the order, opening bowler Lachlan Isbister returned to help tidy up the job and finished with 5-46 off 17 overs.
Buninyong was also stop-start with the bat, bouncing from 2-27 to 4-121 thanks to the resilience of Joel Kitchen, who made his second half-century of the season with 78.
Michael Flynn played the anchor role late, with 57, following his round two century.
The Cahir boys were the only multiple wicket-takers for Dunnstown, with Rhys taking 3-66 and Jaye 2-44.
Kane Leathem played a skipper’s knock of 79 to keep Creswick Imperials together to tally up 177. Aaron Wilson was the destroyer with 5-27 off 21 overs, which featured nine maidens.
