A camera crew and a fleet of classic cars took up residence in Webster Street, where internal and external scenes were being filmed for season two of the popular ABC series.
McLachlan’s character, Dr Lucian Blake was seen hopping out of a vintage car in the tree-lined street, before entering a house with a vintage police car parked in the driveway.
No doubt the maverick doctor had a new murder mystery to solve.
Filming will continue for the next two days at iconic Ballarat locations including Wendouree Parade and the Ballarat Botanical Gardens.
Today, an exciting action sequence is due to be shot complete with cars and firing guns.
It comes after cast and crew descended on the Old Colonists Club and the Art Gallery of Ballarat to film final episodes of season two earlier this month.
The television drama is the first Australian-made show to make it onto the British television station.
The 10-part drama series, filmed in Ballarat and starring McLachlan, is airing on BBC1 from this week.
