He won.
Last week he defended his title in Canberra, taking out the championship by four strokes with a collective score of 235 over three matches.
Ciezki said it was an “awesome” feeling.
“In 2012 I was the last entrant into the competition so I went in with almost no preparation. I just went with a few mates, I had no illusions about winning,” he said.
“Going into last week I was confident I was performing OK and put up a good show.
“Things started to come together a month before and I was confident about defending my title.”
The 54-hole tournament, played over three days, was contested by more than 300 golfers across the country.
Ciezki has been a member of Buninyong Golf Club for more than 30 years.
“I took up golf when I couldn’t play football in the early 1980s,” he said. “I just have a passion for the game.”
The AVGU National Championship is an annual event for golfers aged 55 and over that rotates around the Australia. Ciezki said he would compete at next year’s tournament in Bunbury, Western Australia.
