Shane Lancaster, 41, appeared in Ballarat Magistrates Court yesterday afternoon, where he was refused bail.
Lancaster, who was on bail for trafficking methamphetamine, is now faced with a string of fresh charges including trafficking methamphetamine, dealing in property suspected of being the proceeds of crime, possessing a prohibited weapon without lawful excuse, possessing methamphetamine, possessing ecstasy and possessing a drug of dependence.
The court heard Lancaster was bailed following a search of his Winter Street home on November 21 this year, when police allegedly located 28 bags of methamphetamine hidden in his freezer, a home-made Taser, digital scales, cash and empty deal bags.
Opposing Lancaster’s bail, Ballarat Criminal Investigation Unit Senior Constable Neville Leishman said another search of Lancaster’s home on December 2 allegedly located another large supply of illegal goods.
The court heard the search uncovered a glass vial containing pure liquid adrenalin, two sets of digital scales, cash, stolen goods and numerous pieces of property suspected of being the proceeds of crime.
Senior Constable Leishman said Lancaster made full admissions to police and stated he had continued to traffic ice since being arrested in November.
The court heard Lancaster, a regular ice user himself, admitted to police that he regularly accepted property in exchange for drugs.
David Tamanika, for Lancaster, said his client’s drug use was the contributing factor behind his offending and that since being in custody he had had the chance to detox.
Magistrate Catherine Lamble refused Lancaster’s bail application, commenting on the fact that he had continued to seriously offend nine days after being bailed for similar matters.
Lancaster will re-appear in Ballarat Magistrates on December 19 for a mention hearing.
