The University of Ballarat has amalgamated with Monash University’s Gippsland campus to form the new university, which will come into being at the start of the new year.
UB media officer Matthew Freeman said the wall was built yesterday.
“It’s the welcoming spot of the university and will be a great place for graduates to have their photo taken,” Mr Freeman said.
He said the university would add other items to the wall in years to come, including inscriptions.
“With the upcoming FedUni information day on December 18, it’s helping prospective students think FedUni instead of UB,” Mr Freeman said.
He said it was made of three walls in a grey stone and was placed where the statue used to be, which had been moved to the new science building.
“We’ve been changing lots of signs around the place, including the cars and the technology park. It’s in preparation for January 1,” he said.
“It’s been a gradual process, but very exciting as we prepare for the new year.”
