Back for the second time, this year’s ‘Making a scene at Christmas’ event is bigger and better with organisers hoping to attract more than 2000 people.
Hundreds of rare nativity scenes are on display including several sets from all over the world.
Julie Boyd, of Ballarat, said after attending last year she was thrilled to now have her father’s crib on display.
“Last year was amazing, just really beautiful,” Ms Boyd said.
“My father’s crib is pretty special to our family so I thought it would be nice for others to view.”
Employed as a textile supervisor in Holland, pre World War II, Ms Boyd’s father was asked by his boss to take care of the crib when the war broke out.
Migrating to Australia in 1955, her father brought the crib with him and it has been in the family ever since.
Event co-ordinator Vin Dillon encouraged everyone to attend.
“Whether you’re religious or not, this is just something really nice to see,” he said.
