Trevor and Phillip Scott, both 20, appeared in Ballarat Magistrates Court yesterday, where they faced a filing hearing for charges of recklessly causing serious injury.
The pair will now face a committal mention hearing, taking them into County Court jurisdiction, on February 27.
The brothers are accused of fracturing the 45-year-old victim’s skull in an attack in Leawarra Crescent, Delacombe, on September 21. Previous court hearings were told the victim had to be flown to a Melbourne hospital after the attack and remained in an induced coma for two days.
The brothers allegedly approached the victim and punched him to the head after being told to curb their erratic driving.
Trevor Scott, who is on remand over the alleged assault, sat in the dock of the court, while Phillip, who is on bail, sat behind his lawyer.
The pair appeared relaxed during the brief hearing while their mother was in tears.
