The four-day tennis tournament will draw top players from around Australia and as far abroad as France and Chinese Taipei to the Ballarat Regional Tennis Centre.
Competition begins tomorrow and runs through until Sunday.
It will be the second hosting of the event in Ballarat, with last year's singles titles going to Sam Groth (men) and Viktorija Rajicic (women).
Rajicic will return to defend her crown, however Groth won't.
The tournament is headlined by the appearance of reigning Wimbledon women's doubles champion Su-wei Hsieh.
Meanwhile, in a rarity, greyhound racing will not be held in Ballarat tonight.
The Ballarat Greyhound Racing Club's regular Wednesday night timeslot makes way for the Sale Cup heats.
Due to Christmas, Ballarat will be without a Wednesday night meeting until January 1, but racing is scheduled on Monday, December 23 and December 30.
The next Ballarat harness meeting will be at Bray Raceway on December 26, while track renovation work is still ongoing at the Ballarat Turf Club with racing not expected back at the venue until May 2014.
