ROUND 12 of the Ballarat District Bowls Division midweek pennant season is completed and clubs can now look forward to a lengthy break, with competition set to resume on January 6.
The return of pennant in 2014 will see new start-up times from 10am with roll-up to commence at 9.40am.
The lunch break is recommended to run from 12pm, but the exact time is still up to the host club on the day.
There were several surprises from round 12 play, and plenty more surprises to come in the new year, as clubs get increasingly more desperate to cement spots in the finals.
The skippers draw for the state fours, which takes place on January 9-10 at Mt Xavier is as follows:
Section one: V Duggan, K Geddes, J Watson, J Harman
Section two: J Shepherd, J Burt, M Holloway, S Chapman
Section three: B Kinnersly, W Wereszczuk, J Adams, E Cosgrove
Section four: H Hopkinson, B Huntley, J Vincent, bye.
The draw from the BDBD Heartbeat Tournament on Sunday, January 5 will be in the paper next week, and also emailed to various the competing clubs.
All participants will have to check which venue they are competing at, with the tournament to be contested at both City Oval and Webbcona.
Club representatives are advised to inform players that the state triples entries close on January 10.
I wish all all bowlers a safe and happy Christmas, and may the new year bring great bowling for all.
