As the city sweltered through a 36C day yesterday, residents headed to the Eureka Pool to cool off.
Ten-year-old Ella James and her family arrived the pool during the afternoon after the heat became too much.
"They just want to sit in the shade, but I want to be in the water," she said.
The cool water proved too alluring for our intrepid reporter Pat Nolan, who decided he'd test it out himself.
"I had been cooped up on the office all day and thought why not?" he said.
"It was pretty nice once I got in there, although it probably would have been better if I had brought my bathers.
Ballarat is in for another hot day today, with temperatures expected to hover in the low 30s.
