Wearing an inflatable, and “very hot”, plastic sumo Santa suit, Mr Claus braved the Ballarat heat to spread Christmas cheer at the centre yesterday.
“I go around to the patients and offer them lollies,” Mr Claus said.
“My wife gave me the sumo suit about six years ago and I’ve never used it,” he said.“We did this last year and will be doing it again next year.”
Clinical nurse educator Michelle Walker said patients were thrilled Santa made the visit.
“Oncology has been extremely busy this week, so Santa has seen a lot of patients,” Ms Walker said.
During his off season, Santa is the Ballarat Day Procedure Centre’s purchasing state officer.
