And one Ballarat unit is inviting you to join in its quest.
The Brawl Warriors are set to break a Guiness World Record for the largest Tough Mudder team ever, with more than 1000 ‘Tougher Mudders’ expected to join.
The Victorian Tough Mudder team will gather members from participating gyms across the state ahead of the Phillip Island Tough Mudder event in March.
Brawl Boxing Ballarat owner Clinton Vermaak will be training a local band of Brawl Warriors out of his gym and at a Smythesdale obstacle course with the help of 10 personal trainers.
He said he expects to take 200 people under his wing as part of the Ballarat arm of the Brawl Warriors.
“We have about 20 people that will be monitored per personal trainer over 10 weeks,” he said.
“Personal trainers will put them through a health analysis and they would give the results of how much they have increased their fitness.”
According to the Tough Mudder website, events are “hardcore obstacle courses designed to test your all-round strength, stamina, mental grit and camaraderie”.
For the coming event, ‘Tough Mudders’ will trek through a 20-kilometre obstacle course and be forced to dodge live electrical wire, crawl through mud pits and run through fire.
The estimated completion time is three to four hours.
“It’s all about the camaraderie and the friendship. You leave as a pack and you finish as a pack,” Vermaak said.
“It’s not a race. For us it’s about the camaraderie and we are taking it one step further.”
The Brawl Warriors 10-week training regime will commence on January 6.
