And she’s not the only one in the family to do so.
Her late mother Charlotte Henderson also reached the magic milestone, living until she was 101. Nancy’s grandmother lived to 98.
“It’s genetics,” Nancy said at her birthday lunch, remaining tight-lipped about the secrets of her long and successful life.
“And luck,” her son, Greg Forbes, added.
Nancy is mother to Greg and Ian Forbes, grandmother to six and great grandmother to 11.
After growing up at Avoca, Nancy – a country girl at heart – lived in Maryborough until she married Walter “Wally” Forbes in 1938.
She worked as a book keeper before tying the knot and after the birth of her first child Ian in 1941, spent her days at home. She was also a member of the Red Cross.
“I’m just a person, I’m not important,” Nancy said.
“I’m not ambitious. I was happy to go along with whatever came my way in life.”
