Ballarat Food was launched earlier this month and has a strong fan base among locals, restaurateurs and fresh food producers.
“We just knew we needed something like this in
Ballarat,” website co-creator Ms Kaine said. “Eating is something we all have to do anyway, so you might as well enjoy it.”
Reuniting in January after 10 years apart, Jodie and childhood friend Suzi Fitzpatrick decided to create a food blog for Ballarat.
Designed by Alphaville’s Andrew Wise, the blog features recipes, restaurant reviews and a streaming Instagram feed of food photography.
On January 1, Ballarat Food will launch a database of restaurants across the region.
Ms Kain said she hoped the site would act as a one-stop shop for all things food and wine in Ballarat.
“One of the key things we want to do is to get people talking about food in Ballarat,” Jodie said.
“These days, more people are starting to ask questions about food. They are wanting to source organic foods and food intolerance is becoming more prevalent.”
