Up to 40 volunteer ambassadors from the Buninyong and Mt Helen Lions Club will again be on hand to make the event run smoothly for athletes and spectators.
Having played a big part in giving the cycling event a true “community feel” over the past six years, the band of volunteers has been putting in a big effort to make January’s event the biggest and best yet.
Lions Club ambassador co-ordinator Graeme Lukey said up to 200 hours of preparation would go into planning the event.
“We’re all local people who want to see the event succeed and want to see it have a real community atmosphere,” he said.
Ambassadors will be easily recognisable, wearing either blue vests with the Lions Club logo or high-visibility vests.
The cycling championships will start on Wednesday, January 8.
