“When we were let go, the one thing Ronan (Keating) said to us was we weren’t ready, not that we couldn’t sing or couldn’t perform, just that we weren’t ready,” Michael said.
“I was disappointed at the time but when I think about it, I probably wasn’t ready and it was a good thing we could go back and complete our university degrees.”
Now, almost six months later, the former Ballarat brothers are adamant to prove they are ready to take on the music world.
This month, the twins started a Pozible crowdfunding campaign to raise funds for the making of their debut EP.
Setting a target of $40,000, the twins said the money would go towards such things as mixing, mastering, recording, promotion and distribution.
Depending on the amount pledged, backers will receive rewards such as an autographed copy of the debut EP, access to band merchandise or a private meeting and show with The Royce Twins.
Performing regularly in Ballarat at venues such as The George Hotel and JDs Sports Bar, The Royce Twins have continued to expand their fan base since The X Factor and are hoping for support from local fans.
“We’re definitely ready now. We’ve been writing songs and gigging and our online presence is up to date,” Michael said.
“We’ve written the songs for the EP and we’re ready to record. All we need is the funds.”
