Ballarat fire crews attend three small blazes

BALLARAT City Fire Brigade was called to three separate small fires yesterday, as temperatures climbed across the region.

Crews were called to a car fire in Barkly St, Ballarat, around 7.45am.

Around 2pm, crews were called to a scrub fire in Sebastopol, which was contained soon after their arrival.

Ballarat City senior station officer Steve Poulter said the station was also investigating a spate of bonfires being lit around Ballarat.

“We’ve had a couple of calls in relation to bonfires,” Mr Poulter said.

“Just a reminder that fire restrictions are in place across the state.”

CFA fire restrictions began in Ballarat on December 23 and will continue until May 1.

Crews also attended a gas heater fire in Creswick around 4.10pm.
