The Australian under-19 cricketer has undertaken 12th man duties, like running drinks and offering general assistance to squad members.
In a big year for Short, aged 18, the East Ballarat export signed a development contract with the Victorian Bushrangers and was also picked up as a development rookie with Big Bash League club Melbourne Renegades.
Short made a century in his international debut on an under-19 tour of New Zealand earlier this year and was this month shortlisted in the Australian squad for the International Cricket Council under-19 world cup in the United Arab Emirates.
He returned to Ballarat a fortnight ago the Renegades' three-day community camp and practice matches.
