He carried 62kg to his latest win in Ballarat on October 2.

Trained by Simon Morrish in Ballarat and to be ridden by Dean Larsson, Quick Shakes has mixed his form since that success.

His best effort was a second to Flashy Fella in the Ararat Gold Cup over his favourite distance of 1600m.

He was found out when he tired after leading over the longer trip of 2200m in the Ballarat Cup and was then eased up after jumping awkwardly at Flemington on December 21.

A veterinary report stated that Quick Shakes, which won his maiden at Burrumbeet last year, took longer to recover than usual.

Burrumbeet Park and Windermere Racing Club has 20 nominations for the Scott Petroleum Burrumbeet Cup, one of seven events programmed for Wednesday.

Traralgon Cup winner Severn Road is also up in the weights, with 59.5kg, as is Mortake Cup winer Diamonds At Noon.

These two have also been placed in an array of other country cups.

Six Beat is also looking to back up from Thursday’s Penshurst Cup victory.

The Burrumbeet Cup has also been high on the list of Ballarat stables when it comes to special targets.

As well as Morrish, Darren Weir has two entries in Xavier and Heisman, and Terry Kelly has nominated Torgannah.

Weir and Kelly have each tasted success in the cup.

Mick Kent and Paddy Payne, who use Ballarat as a secondary training base for a handful of stable runners, also have entries with Jelly Baby and former WA galloper Purple Tiger respectively.
