Many fashions, tunes and dance moves will be flaunted across the city as people reminisce on the year that was and dream on the year to come.
The George Hotel owner Gary Browning said The George put on a New Year’s Eve event each year and this year it would be 80s-themed.
Bartenders will dress up in 80s outfits and pour classic 80s cocktails including fluffy duck, loving monkey and illusions.
He said the whole bottom floor would be open for guests to have a good time and bring in 2014.
“Everyone has a great night. There’s entertainment that’s cheap, and it’s a fun venue set up and ready to go,” he said.
Bartender Haylea Anderson said she loved New Year’s Eve, especially that moment when the clocks hit midnight.
“It’s just an amazing atmosphere and vibe when it hits midnight,” she said.
“Everyone has that feel of fresh start and having fun.”
Ms Anderson said 2014 was a big year with a lot in store.
“It’s my last year as a student, so I want to have as much fun and do as well as I can,” she said.
She said her New Year’s resolutions included travelling more, drinking less, getting fit and tough and finishing her Primary School Teaching course at university.
“I’m hoping to go to Singapore to work, Bali in August and I also want to go to Canada,” she said.
“I’ve got to sky dive too, that’s definitely on my list.”
