Twelve seconds to glory: stunning Gift victory for Forrest 

EIGHTEEN-year-old Lee Forrest has captured his first Gift sash in a stunning victory at Princes Park  on Wednesday.

.Forrest, off seven metres, edged out strong contender Noddy Angelakos to win the coveted $15,000 Maryborough Gift.

This is the Talangatta teenager's second Victorian Athletic League season but spent most of last summer sidelined after a motorcycle accident.

Defending champion Joel Bee, from Ballarat, reached the semi-finals.

Payne, just 15 years old, claimed the 120-metre race in 14.335 seconds off an 11-metre handicap.

Karlee Bailey of Pakenham finished second with a time of 14.446, while Seabrook's Tierra Exum finished third on 14.494.
