Ballarat can collectively take a breath after a bumper four days of the Cycling Australia Road National Championships, which culminated with Simon Gerrans' win in an epic elite men's road race in Buninyong yesterday.
Gerrans' second win in three years came narrowly ahead of Tour de France champion Cadel Evans.
The crowd of well over 20,000 demonstrated Evans' drawing power and also highlighted the quality field of Australian cyclists.
Meanwhile, Wendouree's Heath Pyke continues to lead the Victorian team at the Australian Country Cricket Championships in Canberra.
The Vics take on Western Australia in a one-day fixture today after losing two of its opening three matches of the carnival.
Back home, Ballarat Greyhound Racing Club will host its regular Monday afternoon meeting today.
The 12-race card starts at 12.19pm and runs through until the last race at 3.29pm.
