Retail chain stores sell out of inflatable swimming pools

PEOPLE were searching desperately for means to cool off yesterday with no luck at Ballarat’s retail chain stores Big W, K-Mart and Target.

All three stores had sold out of inflatable pools as temperatures soared to the high 30s this week and young and old alike fought to keep cool.

Instead of having their own little wading pool in their backyards, alternatives were beach trips, going to the pool or visiting friends with a backyard pool.

Nicole McCarthy of Mt Helen took her children to the Buninyong pool to cool down.

“I think half my son’s class is here today,” she said.

K-Mart will stock pools again tomorrow when the new catalogue comes out, but aren’t guaranteeing they will last long and recommend anyone wanting an inflatable pool to get in early.

While K-Mart was short on swimming pools, it had plenty of pool toys available.
