The 18-year-old was one of 1750 students offered a place at the new university, to study her first preference course Bachelor of Arts.
"I wanted to go there because it's so close and I think it's the best option for my career," she said.
The former Mount Clear College student said she was interested in history and considering careers including archaeologist, tour guide and museum curator.
"I went to Germany on a school trip in 2011 and it unfolded from there," she said.
"I'd always liked history and chose the subjects in VCE, but that confirmed it for me."
For her first year, Ms Roberts will study the core subjects in the degree and hopes to take American History as an elective.
"I'm choosing subjects that I like and are personal to me, so I hope it's going to be easy, stress-free and fun," she said.
"I'm looking forward to not being nagged by teachers"

More than 1600 students listed Federation University as their first preference, and 4400 placed it in their top three.
Students wishing to access their university offers can do so at http://www.vtac.edu.au with their VTAC ID and pin.
The second round of VTAC offers will be released on 6 February 2014.
