The Red Caps were gifted a place in the division one Cricket Willow Cup decider when semi final rivals Laaniecoorie-Dunolly forfeited on Sunday.
This sets up a grand final showdown with Bacchus Marsh, who lost last year’s final against Mt Clear.
The Gisborne and District Cricket Association side defeated Barkers Creek in the second semi final to give itself a chance of claiming a first Cricket Willow Cup, with Wendouree chasing its fifth.
Wendouree and Bacchus Marsh will be the headline act in a big day of action at the Shepherds Flat venue next Monday, with the final set down for 3pm and to follow the division two playoff between VRI Delacombe and Carngham from 12noon.
