For two sisters, no amount of driving could stop them from getting to see Mauboy.
Samantha and Vanessa Lastro said they had won two tickets as part of a competition and had travelled from Beaconsfield, a two-hour drive, for the show.
“I am pretty excited, she is just amazing,” Samantha said.
Part of the competition involved getting a special behind-the-scenes look at Mauboy, who performed her sound check in front of the adoring pair as well as a Q and A with the star.
While the sisters were not game to ask too many questions they said it was great to chat to Mauboy as they left the centre, which was another advantage of the competition.
While Mauboy is best known for her music she is also well known for her acting career.
She starred in critically acclaimed film The Sapphires, for which she won an Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts award for best actress in a supporting role.
“I absolutely love the movie,” Samantha said.
“It is just so different and I felt touched by it.”
However, it wasn’t the first time the Lasto sisters had seen Mauboy perform – Samantha said her mother had also won tickets in November last year to attend another concert.
Another reality TV star, Nathaniel Willemse who was a competitor on X-Factor, also performed last night.
Mauboy shot to fame as a contestant on Australian Idol, where she finished runner-up to Damien Leith in 2006.
Since then, she has released three albums with the last one released in 2013, titled Beautiful.
The show in Ballarat was the second last stop on her tour, as she heads to Geelong for her final performance tonight.
