Heat forces Ballarat cricket carnival to be cancelled

HEAT has forced the cancellation of Ballarat and Bendigo cricket challenge scheduled for Ballarat on Sunday.

The annual carnival is a key lead-up to Melbourne Country Week at senior level, as well as catering across junior age groups.

A top of 40 degrees is forecast for Ballarat on Sunday after 37 on Saturday.

Ballarat Cricket Association last night stated that it had  taken the proactive action in the interest of player safety.

"It's disappointing for all players and supporters, however, unfortunately in this case it's unavoidable."
