The visiting team looked in control with two rinks leading comfortably for most of the match, but was put under stress by Central Wendouree skipper Jean Burt in the 69-67 win.
“It came down to the very last end, with our lead bowler Geoff Worsley putting his ball within a few millimetres of the jack, which made sure we couldn’t lose more than one shot at most,” skipper Jenny Harman said.
“I’m really, really proud of the way the team has performed this season – it’s our first year in division one since the mid-2000s.”
Harman’s rink beat Carleen Bowers’ four 27-22 and Joan Dunn’s team defeated Heather Snibson’s rink 27-9, but Jan Gordon’s rink was put on the receiving end of a supreme belting by Central Wendouree skipper Jean Burt 36-15.
In other matches Creswick won a 69-68 thriller against Midlands and Central Wendouree A beat Avenue 83-54. Mt Xavier dominated Daylesford 87-45 and ladder leader Smeaton beat Webbcona 67-57.
