Samuel Hayward, 21, had his bail application refused in the Ballarat Magistrates Court on the grounds he failed to show reasonable cause.
Yesterday, Hayward was charged with two counts of intentionally causing injury, two of criminal damage, one of attempting to intentionally cause injury, one of behaving in a riotous manner in a public place and one of using a controlled weapon without an excuse.
Ballarat police informant Detective Senior Constable Troy Wickham told the court Hayward had assaulted two people who were waiting in cars at the traffic lights turning into Little Bridge Street about 5pm on Wednesday.
The court heard Hayward allegedly approached the first vehicle, opened the driver’s door and hit the driver in the face before punching him in the back of the head and kneeing him in the face.
It is also alleged Hayward produced a pocket knife and attempted to stab the driver of another vehicle, before stabbing the driver’s side car door three times.
Police later arrested him in a residential backyard near Doveton Street.
He was remanded in custody to reappear in Ballarat Magistrates Court on March 11.
