Alice Lorincz couldn’t quite seal the deal on the girls’ singles play-offs when she lost to number-three seed Indonesian Josephine Leonila in straight sets 10-21, 16-21.
Leonila was knocked out in the semi-final by Australian Alice Wu, who will play for the decider against unexpected competitor Indonesian Mitzi Abigail Purnama.
Lorincz and Malvika Hemanth managed to defeat Janice Au and Chloe Chen in the girls’ doubles but couldn’t secure the semi-final against Lee Yen Khoo and Josephine Liu in a 18-21, 21-16, 21-17 loss.
Liu and Khoo will face seed two Alice Wu and Jennifer Tam in the all-Australian final.
Lorincz also made up the Ballarat mixed doubles pair with Mitchell Gervasoni. The pair were knocked out by second seed Anthony Joe and Joy Lai in straight sets 15-21, 16-21.
Lai and Joe will go head-to-head with first seed Alice Wu and Daniel Guda in the mixed doubles decider today.
Gervasoni wasn’t able to secure his name on the boys’ singles national board after he bowed out of the quarter final to first seed Daniel Guda in a 21-9, 21-8 loss.
The boys singles will be fought between first seed Guda and second seed Anthony Joe.
