This includes $250,000 to the Ballarat Regional Integrated Cancer Centre (BRICC), major contributions to the Base Hospital emergency department redevelopment, $100,000 towards equipment for BHS’ sixth operating theatre and $30,000 towards defibrillators and resuscitation equipment.
BHS Foundation chairman Lindsay Florence said extra funds had been raised to support many BHS programs and services since 1989.
“It is a terrific achievement to be able to celebrate 25 years, and to celebrate our silver anniversary we hope to support a number of special projects this year,” Mr Florence said.
BHS chief executive officer Andrew Rowe said many projects would not have been possible without the foundation’s support.
“The foundation does a terrific job raising money to complement income from government, and enhances the service provided by our medical and nursing staff,” Mr Rowe said.
“BHS is most appreciative of their support towards the BRICC and other vital projects.”
The BHS Foundation operates independently from BHS and is governed by an independent board.
Its major fundraiser each year is an annual golf day, to be held at Buninyong Golf Club on Friday, March 21.
