WEATHER

The experts have predicted morning storms, but there was nothing but clear skies above Ballarat earlier this morning.

Ballarat is heading for a top of 21 degrees and should maintain some cloud cover.

A few showers are expected this morning and early this afternoon. 

The chance of a thunderstorm early this morning. Winds are expected to pick-up to 25 km/h later today.

POLICE

´╗┐Ballarat police say they are investigating a 'coward punch' which occurred on a Ballarat street late last year. 

Ballarat man Daniel Lock says he feels the city isn't safe after being hit by people he didn't know while walking home in December.

Police say the investigation is "ongoing". More here.

FIRE

There is a fresh call for information to help police catch a person or group of people responsible for lighting a string of grass fires in the Lucas area last month. More here.

The CFA say those responsible seem to have a good knowledge of fire conditions.

TRAINS

Vline is reporting a "good service" for the Ballarat line this morning.
