Eureka had the better start to lead 12-8, but was swept away by MCDFL after quarter time to lose 53-37.
Defenders Amy and Kelly Conroy were influential early.
Then it was Maryborough Castlemaine’s turn.
Goal defence Ingrid Hopkins and goalkeeper Ashlee Lierich were among the best on court as they applied relentless pressure to an unsettling Eureka attack line.
Trailing by 11 goals at the last change, Eureka was unable to rediscover its rhythm, with unforced errors taking a toll.
Ballarat Football Netball League prevailed by two goals in against Riddell District Football League in the 17/under competition.
Riddell led 12-11 before speedy work of BFL centre court player Sarah McCabe and Zoe Nevett helped swing momentum.
Riddell’s Georgia Baseggio continued to work hard and lifted her team back into the game to trail by 33-32 after three quarter time.
BFNL rallied to push two goals clear in the final minute and held on 43-41 and will take confidence into its last round clash with Eureka.
