Darren Weir brings up 50th metropolitan win of the season in career first

DARREN Weir achieved a career first at Moonee Valley yesterday – landing his 50th metropolitan win of the season.

Weir had another double to maintain a firm hold on the lead in the Melbourne metropolitan trainers’ premiership.

His 50 wins have him 12 ahead of Peter Moody.

Weir ‘s wins came with Duble Barrel Daisy ($6.50) and stayer Gingerboy ($5.50).

BALLARAT and District Trotting Club tonight pays tribute to past committee members and key contributors to harness racing in the city.

Races on a 10-event program have been named in honour Keith Bray, Bob Freeman, Frank Britt, Kevin Foley, Mick and Tom Mahar, Len Fulton, Eric White and for the first time Ron and Gladys Newton.
