Students told of Sudan aid effort

SOUTH SUDAN aid worker Mary Wachira explained her work to school pupils yesterday, helping them understand where funds they raise for Caritas Australia end up.

The Kenyan is a program officer for the Australian organisation Caritas Australia, directing food and rehabilitation in disadvantaged communities.

“We’re working with the agency to assist the community and teach them disciplines,” Ms Wachira said.

She said they had created a bore hole for fresh water, provided people with seeds and tools to grow food, given them goats and fishing kits, all to sustain life and create work.
