The breakfasts are the continuation of a City of Ballarat program that aims to help upskill migrants who are new to Ballarat, in the hope of improving their chances of gaining employment.
City of Ballarat cultural and diversity project officer Zoe Allen said she hoped to partner 20 businesses with the program.
The Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Careers Program provides migrants with training to help find jobs in Ballarat.
The goal is to place the 60 program graduates into workplaces where they can put those skills into practice.
“We spoke to local employers and said ‘when you are looking at employing migrants in Ballarat, what are the challenges you face?’,” Ms Allen said.
“One of the biggest challenges was the lack of of local experience, local knowledge and funding to train to migrants.”
The program is funded by the federal government and the City of Ballarat.
The next breakfast will be on March 20 at 7am.
The event will have guest speakers and will provide employers with the opportunity to hear about the benefits of employing people from the migrant community.
Any business person who wants to attend the breakfast should email Ms Allen at zoeallan@ballarat.vic.gov.au
