FILMING will begin in Ballarat today for Sir Tony Robinson’s latest series Tour of Duty.
Sir Tony is a British actor, comedian, historian and television host, best known for his role as Baldrick in the Blackadder series, and as host of archaeology series Time Team.
Filming will be done until Saturday, when a Tour of Duty community event will be held at the Australian Ex-Prisoners of War Memorial, where residents can bring along war memorabilia for expert historians to examine.
Loreto College will bring a time capsule, and members from the Ballarat Ranger Military Museum, Mining Mud & Medals Project and Sovereign Hill Museum will bring displays.
The Ballarat Tram Museum, situated just off the main site, will be open where guests can listen to expert historian speakers from UNSW Canberra’s Australian Defence Force Academy.
Tony Robinson’s Tour of Duty is a 10-part series airing on pay-TV in early 2015 to commemorate the service of those who fought in war, from the First World War to the present day.
