Gleeson will play his first game with Essendon against North Melbourne at Etihad Stadium tomorrow night.
Close has forced his way into the Brisbane Lions line-up to meet Hawthorn in Launceston on Saturday
Each is in his second year on AFL lists, having been drafted at the end of 2012.
From Koroit in the Hampden Football League, Gleeson, 19, was selection 53 in the national draft.
He is coming off a shoulder reconstruction last season, when played 13 VFL matches with the Bombers.
Close, who is one of three players debuting with the Lions, was pick 32 in the 2012 national draft
The 19-year-old hails from Harrow Balmoral in the Horsham District league.
