Organiser Shane Darroch said the annual Walk for the Kids event attracted about 300 participants who raised money for four charities: Cops n’ Kids Camps, Support4Cancer, TLC for Kids and Peter’s Projects.
Some walkers came in fancy dress while others pushed prams or lead dogs the length of the 6.1 kilometre course.
“It’s just a chance to get out and be part of something that everyone else is getting involved in,” Mr Darroch said.
“The feedback was very positive.”
At the conclusion of the walk participants raised funds by purchasing food, drinks, raffle tickets or merchandise.
Mr Darroch said the walk was held in conjunction with Woolworths and Victoria Police and was the first of a number of events planned for the year.
He said they hoped to raise more than $100,000 over 12 months with events including a 24-hour bike challenge, trivia night and ball.
