A CRESWICK man is in a stable condition after crashing his car into a tree at Wattle Flat last night.

The driver, 26, and passenger, 24, from Sebastopol were travelling along Bungaree-Creswick Road when the driver lost control of the vehicle.

Police said it appeared the driver came too wide on a shoulder, overcorrected and lost control, resulting in the collision with the tree.

The passenger managed to escape, but the driver was trapped for about 90 minutes.

Police partially blocked Bungaree-Creswick Road at 7pm.

It was a busy night for fire crews with multiple call outs.

The first call-out was to a Sebastopol where crews were called to help a man who had been locked in his toilet and unable to get out.

Fire crews also attended a false alarm and to clean up oil on the road in Curtis Street .

Nothing to report from paramedics.

Delays are expected on the Ballarat line this morning due to a police operation a Footscray.
