TODD McKenney has been singing Peter Allen's songs for more than 15 years.
"His is just really good music and I appeal to big Peter Allen fans so I feel like I'm keeping his music alive," McKenney said.
"They're just lovely melodies and he's such a great lyricist. (His) songs all tell stories. They're all about his life and they all mean something.
"Not many songwriters these days write biographically like Peter Allen did."
McKenney will head to Ballarat this weekend performing the songs of Peter Allen in a high energy, vibrant and entertaining show.
The multi-talented star first slipped on his dancing shoes at the age of three, but it was his portrayal of Peter Allen in The Boy from Oz in 1998 that made him a household name.
McKenney said playing the role of Peter Allen fit him like a glove.
"I think our sense of humour is very similar and so is our style of performing," McKenney said.
"I knew him and I knew his family so I'm very familiar with his songs and style of performing and have always been a fan of his."
This weekend's show will feature all of Peter Allen's hits as well as songs from McKenney's early musical theatre career.
The audience will also hear stories and anecdotes from Allen's life as well as all the goss from Dancing with the Stars.
"Every single show, without a doubt, someone will bring a score card," McKenney said.
"I welcome it. I get scored a lot and it's funny actually.
"I also talk to the audience and set the mood and they are able to talk back to me. It works really well. I just hope I don't get cabbages thrown at me."
