He meets 13th seed Antonio Filippone in a third round match.
All top seeds remain in contention, with Madison Brown (14/under girls), Amy Stevens (14/under girls), Marcus Stathos (14/under boys), Eddie Boya (16/under boys) and Nicole Mullen (16/under girls) also in action today.
Samantha Huggett, Marcus Tilley and Tim McConchie were among Ballarat regional players to advance with wins yesterday.

RED DEVILS IN ACTION TONIGHT
BALLARAT Red Devils play one of the giants on Victorian soccer in National Premier League Victoria tonight.
The Reds have their third match for the season against South Melbourne at the Lakeside Stadium, 8.30pm.
Ballarat is unbeaten after two games.
RACING DOUBLEHEADER TONIGHT
BALLARAT has a racing doubleheader tonight with Ballarat and District Trotting Club and Ballarat Greyhound Racing Club each having race meetings.

PRIDE DENTED AGAIN
JUST when it looked like things could not get worse for Fed Uni Ballarat Pride, it lost to West City Falcons 80-42 in Victorian Netball League championship division last night.
It is the biggest loss of the season for Pride, which remains winless after nine rounds.
