Springs Road needs permanent repairs

The terrible state of Springs Road between Water Street and the Coorabin Estate is an absolute disgrace.

Large potholes fill the road with extremely rough bitumen edges on a road that in places is quite narrow and it is only a matter of time before someone is killed or seriously injured, whether it be a driver, runner, walker, cyclist or a vehicle seriously damaged.

My family have had several near misses involving large potholes and large groups of cyclists in the dark early in the morning and of an evening.

It is time this road is upgraded and widened to meet the needs of the ever growing community now living on Springs Road, instead of the bandaid fixes that are currently being applied after every heavy downpour of rain.

Ballarat City Council and VicRoads continually pass the buck on who is going to fix this road.

The amount of vehicle traffic is now demanding the urgent upgrade sooner rather than later before someone gets hurt.

As a resident of the Coorabin Estate I have had enough of the bandaid repairs - it's time for action.

Two school buses use the road morning and afternoon and children are required to walk along the road to the bus stop as there is nowhere else to walk.

Combine a school student with a vehicle

travelling either way and a group of cyclists (which is quite often the case) and this is a recipe for disaster.
