THE leaves are brown, the skies are grey and those cold winter nights are marching perilously close: Ballarat has a typical autumnal feel about it.

While it hasn’t been icily cold, this Easter weekend has provided a bit of classic Ballarat autumn weather.
Yesterday was a bit blustery, with winds of more than 40 km/h and a top temperature of 17 degrees, while Easter Saturday and Sunday recorded temperatures in the low teens.
This week, the maximum temperature will hover around 18 degrees.
It’s not quite electric blanket weather, but it’s getting towards that time when the scarves and beanies will be needed – especially in the mornings.
While the spectre of another winter looms large, there is at least some solace in knowing that Ballarat does autumn really well.
There’s nothing quite like seeing the city’s streets framed by a canopy of orange and brown leaves. Enjoy it while it lasts.
