The project has been plagued by delays and setbacks with works originally due to start in February, bit beginning only recently. 

Parts of the road between Sturt and Mair streets will be affected during the works, with fewer parking spots than normally available.

The City of Ballarat’s major projects delivery manager, Jeff Pulford, said parking limits would still apply as signed during this period. 

“Contractors are working closely with traders to minimise the impact of works on trade,” he said. 

The $1 million revamp will include removing the parking spaces in the centre of the street and replacing them with trees.

The revamp is expected to result in the loss of 17 car parks.
