It's always startling to be reminded of how very little the old dancing doona leaves to the imagination. When you haven't seen one for a while, the tendency is to revert to the assumption that the combination of grainy night-vision footage and a big, fluffy new quilt would allow only the most subtle suggestion of sexual activity to reach our TV screens.

But then the coitus begins and it's somehow far more explicit, confronting and exploitative than any sex scene in the most racy HBO drama. Not to mention enormously icky. But MTV isn't renowned for its delicacy about sexual matters. Nor, for that matter, are the young British exhibitionists who populate its wildly popular drinking-and-shagging reality shows.

In this case, as you may recall, eight fit and feisty young Brits have checked into a Spanish seaside villa thinking they were about to spend a relaxing summer getting sozzled and jumping into bed with each other. They quickly came to realise, however, that one by one their exes would be turning up to complicate matters. The star of the show so far is Vicky Pattison, who was the smartest, funniest and least annoying one in Geordie Shore, and who looks like being the smartest, funniest and least annoying one here. Vicky seems not the least bit bothered by the certainty that one or more of her exes is about to show up. She's more interested in copping off with hunky Ross and more concerned about the fact she has met Ross' ex, Chloe. ''Anything I do with Ross, I'll just be pushing Chloe's porridge because she got there first,'' Vicky explains in characteristically colourful style.

To paraphrase Abraham Lincoln: if you like this sort of thing, this is the sort of thing you'll like.
