CFA posted updates at the weekend on behalf of Victoria Police stating that a police exclusion zone remained around the property more than two weeks after 48-year-old Glenn Sanders blew up his house and shed on the farm near Derrinallum on April 12.
A statement issued yesterday by the CFA said the Hamilton Highway remained closed between the intersections of Darlington Road and Camperdown-Lismore Road and detours were in place through Camperdown for those travelling through Derrinallum, however the township was accessible to local traffic.
A statement issued on Saturday stated that there may be planned explosions on the property, however Victoria Police media would not confirm yesterday if the detonations took place or why they may have occurred.
“We are continuing to make sure the property is safe and that includes planned detonations,” a spokesperson said yesterday.
A local resident familiar with the situation told Fairfax Media on April 13 that Derrinallum locals had been aware of small explosions happening at the property over the past 12 months, and that a situation there had been “coming to a head”.
A community meeting is scheduled to take place at the Derrinallum Community Hall, Main Street, on Wednesday at 7.30pm.
All members of the community are encouraged to attend.
Victoria Police also asked anyone who has specific information about the deceased man, or have any knowledge of any items concealed on the property, to contact Victoria Police or Crimestoppers on 1800 333 000.
